Here is what we call 'A Bauble'

Even tonight I mentioned this, and the said guest (aka Mark who lived in the UK for 3 years), had no clue what I was saying ..

Are you from Australia?

The first question most strangers ask me is "Where are you from". Now, this is a tough one, I am not sure how far to narrow in here? Are they asking for country .. Australia, South Africa, UK? I will generally start here with 'UK', but then I have a dilemma ... is it UK, Britain, England? I can then zone in the 'google map' more .. North of England, South of Manchester. To those that know their geography, I can will pinpoint my exact location .. Stockport.

"You sound like you are from Liverpool". Yes my dulcet accents must have a hint of a Liverpool (scouse as we say) accent. Now this is not meant to offend anyone from Liverpool; those from Liverpool know the difference and rivalry between Manchester and Liverpool and would be equally offended if they were told they were from Manchester. Seems the legacy of the Beatles lives on, and my accent blends into there's. Much as this horrifies me, I guess Manchester and Liverpool are neighbours. While the Manc's and the Scousers clearly know our differences, to the rest of the world we must blend in. "Calm down, calm down"
